Boston, MA — Biena Snacks announces a group of new influential investors joining their team. Some notable members include: Darren Rovell from ESPN, Jesse Itzler co-founder of Marquis Jets, and the founder of Spanx Sara Blakely. Some additional investors are Blueberry Ventures, Centerman Capital and New Ground Ventures.

"The momentum for plant-based protein snacks is undeniable and the chickpea has come out on top,” said Rovell in a press release. “Our group feels that there isn’t anyone in the category that can touch Biena.”

Founder and CEO, Poorvi Patodia launched Biena in 2012 when she was experimenting with roasted chickpeas and flavors. The brand’s products boast 5-6 grams of protein and 5-6 grams of fiber and use clean ingredients that are gluten-free, kosher and non-GMO. The product is manufactured in a facility free of peanuts.

Biena has grown 800% over the last three years and is continuing to double its revenue in 2017. The funds from the new investors will be used towards distribution growth and marketing campaigns.

“I’m thrilled to have our new investors join the Biena family," Patodia said in a press release. "Their genuine passion for the brand and our mission to help everyday Americans snack healthier makes us the perfect pair. I couldn’t be more excited for this next phase of growth."
