ECRM Trends to Watch: Suncare, Personal Care, Grooming, Oral & Travel/Trial Program

October 18, 2021

The ECRM Suncare, Personal Care, Grooming, Oral & Travel/Trial Program was held as a virtual event and introduced great brands with products that highlight many health benefits. Craig Chmielowicz, Senior Vice President at ECRM for Health and Beauty Care, shared his thoughts: "Consumers are more knowledgeable about ingredients than ever before. Much of this has been driven by the pandemic, for two reasons: First, COVID has raised everyone's level of awareness of health and wellness, and people are more focused on what goes in and on their bodies. Additionally, during the past year and a half, consumers have spent more time online researching products, and have a better understanding of how they work and the benefits they deliver.

"Social media, particularly TikTok, continues to be a chief source of information on beauty products for many consumers," Chmielowicz continued. "Microinfluencers, in particular— especially those who focus on niche segments—are increasingly driving purchase decisions due to their high levels of engagement with followers."

The companies showcased are not only making an impact through their products, but through their business models as well. They are creating more jobs in the U.S. and forming a better planet by using sustainable practices.

Some of the brands we met with:

Oral Health Technologies offers cleaning convenience for retainers, aligners, nightguards, dentures, and more. These novel, effective, FDA-cleared antibacterial cleaning solutions make oral appliance care quick and easy. It’s ideal for anywhere and everywhere.

andmetics is an innovative start-up company from Austria with  one mission: Always in perfect shape. They have created a new generation of hair-removal products that will to bring the face and body into the perfect shape. Their high-quality cold wax strips are vegan and cruelty free, and they make it easier to remove unwanted hair in the comfort of one's own home.  They contain soothing extracts such as aloe vera and hemp oil to avoid irritation on sensitive skin. The result: smooth and silky skin for up to 4 weeks.

Houston Medical Technologies is a skincare and hand hygiene solutions company owned by GMS Holdings. They aim to provide institutional, healthcare, and retail customers with a full scope of their sanitizing needs, offering both humetec-branded products and private label products. Their mission is to help communities around the world stay safe from illness-causing germs.

Refreshed Traveler , founded in 2018 before the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to keep you and your family safe, protected, and healthy on the go. The company maintains a comprehensive Recycle & Green Initiative Program. From using, reusing, and recycling cardboard, to upgrading products, like Biodegradable Antibacterial Wet Wipes and the recyclable lifetime guaranteed RT Clear Bags.

A+ Oral Hygiene is an innovative toothbrush company, with a mission to improve the health of gum tissues around natural teeth and dental implants. Established in 2015 by an orthodontist, their mission began as an effort to provide a new orthodontic toothbrush, which could access inaccessible areas of fixed orthodontic appliances (braces), thereby preventing unsightly "white spots" that can develop around the appliances.

Toilettree Products, Inc. is a family-owned company that designs and manufactures unique products for the home and bath. Gary and his sons, Steve and Paul Parisi, founded the company in 2010. Their patented LED Fogless Shower Mirror was named the “Best Fogless Lighted Mirror” on the market by The Hammacher Schlemmer Institute: a non-profit organization that researches, tests, and rates consumer products objectively. It’s also a top-rated-seller on Amazon.
As health and self-care continue to remain on the forefront, expect to see more brands and products introduced to better yourself in all aspects from oral care to skin care and everything in between. With such a focus on ourselves and our well-being, we are sure to see a lot more innovation at future ECRM programs.
