Washington, D.C.—Duffy MacKay, N.D., who held the position of senior vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs at the Council for Responsible Nutrition, is departing CRN and taking up a position with CV Sciences, Inc., as its SVP of scientific and regulatory affairs, according to a press release.

Andrew Shao, Ph.D., who led CRN’s science and regulatory team prior to Dr. MacKay, will begin serving CRN as interim SVP of scientific and regulatory affairs, as of March 1, the press release says. Dr. Shao has spent nearly 20 years in the global nutrition industry, most recently as regulatory and policy science director for Amway/Nutrilite.

Steve Mister, president and CEO of CRN, said in the release, “It has been an immense privilege to have Duffy’s service and leadership over the past decade, and we are grateful for all of his contributions to CRN and to our industry. We wish Duffy all the best as he leaves CRN for this exciting opportunity, and we look forward to seeing his continued success.”

In the meantime, the release says, CRN has commenced an assessment of its leadership needs to fulfill its strategic plan and will make an announcement on a permanent head of science and regulatory affairs later this year.
