Orangeburg, NY— Mediterranean populations have lower levels of heart disease compared to the U.S. where one in four deaths are due to heart disease. These Mediterranean populations have been studied and it was found that their daily intake of five to ten milligrams of olive oils and olive fruit accounts for the low levels of coronary heart disease. This protection of heart disease by olive oil ingestion is due to hydroxytyrosol, a polyphenol, or plant chemical.

Euromed, a provider of botanical and herbal supplements, conducted a study titled, “Impact of a Proprietary Standardized Olive Fruit Extract  (SOFE) on Cardio-Ankle Vascular Index, Visual Analog Scale and C-Reactive Protein Assessments in Subjects with Arterial Stiffness Risks.” In the study, their proprietary Spanish Olive Fruit Extract (SOFE) (Proliva, containing 20% hydroxytyrosol),  improved blood vessel elasticity where none was found in the placebo group. The supplement also reduced the serum triglycerides (fat in the blood) with a daily dose of 500 mg. Arterial stiffness was also decreased, making it easier on the heart while pumping blood through the body.

In addition to the positive results from the study, extract is also processed through Euromed’s PhytoProof line which is designated to ensure quality and trust in the ingredients labeled on each product. Consumers are promised to ingest products with no adulteration or contamination from heavy metals, pesticides, aflatoxins, or microbes. It also ensures correct plant chemistry for safe and effective use.

The General Manager of Euromed USA said, “Our Heritage is making extracts that are used as medicines in Europe. We developed the Phytoproof seal so that consumers in the US and globally could easily identify products delivering the health benefits they are seeking.”
