Pierre, SD--As WholeFoodspreviously reported, South Dakota's Senate Health and Human Services Committee was considering Senate Bill 22, which would have classified most CBD oil as a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Following push back from the public and hemp activists about the generalized classification, the Committee amended the bill. According to a report in Rapid City Journal, the updated wording specifically schedules Epidiolex--the FDA-approved CBD oil prescription drug used to prevent seizures--as a controlled substance, rather than scheduling cannabidiol in general.
The Committee then unanimously passed the amended bill. Next up: The bill moves to the State Senate, then the House before being considered by South Dakota's Governor.
