Richmond, BC, Canada- The organic breakfast and snack food production business, Nature’s Path Foods, has received a Zero Waste Certification for its third facility in Sussex, Wisconsin. Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) has recognized the sustainability efforts of Nature’s Path and have also given Zero Waste Certifications to its facilities in Blain, WA, and Delta, British Columbia. Currently, all three of Nature’s Path’s facilities combined diverts 93 percent of waste from landfills.

“We are incredibly proud of receiving our third Zero Waste Certification. This milestone is not simply a testament to the quality of our facilities, but to the hard work and dedication of each of our team members who strive every day to leave the earth better than they found it,” said Jyoti Stephens, senior director of human resources and sustainability for Nature’s Path in a press release. “Social responsibility and environment sustainability are pillars that are core to everything we do at Nature’s Path, and they go hand-in-hand with our passion of producing delicious, organic food.”

The Zero Waste Certification was developed by the Zero Waste International Alliance in an effort to clearly define what counts as Zero Waste and to divert waste from landfills, incineration, and the environment. A Zero Waste Certification requires a minimum of 90 percent diversion of waste.

“The newest certification for Nature’s Path’s Sussex facility demonstrates the company’s leadership when it comes to zero waste and sets a high bar,” said Stephanie

Barger, director of market development for Zero Waste Programs in a press release. “By adopting a zero waste strategy, Nature’s Path is making an ongoing commitment to sustainability that positively impacts the business, the environment, and the community in which they operate.”
