In this episode of The Natural View, WholeFoods Magazine's Maggie Jaqua sits down with Michelle Martin, President and COO of Cypress Minerals, and Sameer Joshi, COO, Cepham to learn about an initiative to profoundly shift the trajectory of these young livesfrom tragedy to hope.

Cypress Minerals and Cepham, in conjunction with The 6AM Agency, are stepping outside of the everyday issues that affect our industry to focus on a new global humanitarian campaign aimed at providing a permanent rescue shelter for child sexual abuse survivors. Because Hope Needs a Home is looking to raise USD $140,000 by August 30 (new extended deadline!) to secure a stable residence for members of the Wings of Hope Rescue Home—a safe haven for girls between the ages of 11-17 (and their children) who are survivors of child assault, in Nairobi, Kenya. For those looking to help, donations can be made through A Thousand Plus, a non-profit organization solely created to transfer funds to those in need. 100% of the contributions received will be governed by a board of trustees in order to confirm they go directly to Wings of Hope Rescue Home and the purchase and operation of a new facility. UPDATE August 27, 2025:  The #HopeNeedsAHome campaign announced that, in just eight weeks, $103,347 USD was raised from 93 individual donations. This amount has made it possible to secure permanent, safe home for the young mothers of Wings of Hope Rescue Home, aged 11-17 and their children.

“This milestone is more than a property purchase - it is legacy work in action,” said Martin. “It represents safety, dignity and a foundation for generations of girls to come.”

“When we first opened the doors of Wings of Hope, it was with nothing more than a vision and a deep love for the girls who needed a safe place to call home,” said Muteshi Liuba, Founder & Co-Director, whose own experience working in a home for abandoned girls, was the springboard for Wings of Hope which she and her husband, Irwin Mukonyole, founded together in 2016. “To know now that this home will be secured for the girls - and for generations to come - fills our hearts with gratitude...Our dream was always that Hope would continue, long after us, and thanks to this global community of care, that vision will live on.”

“We extend our deepest gratitude to media partners, industry partners, corporate sponsors, and individual donors who leaned in across teams and continents to make this possible, despite the tight deadline,” said  Joshi.

Next goals: Fundraising to meet the $140,000 USD target, continues to address urgent repairs and essential infrastructure, so the home can quickly service new residents, with up to 20 enquiries per week for a safe place for pregnant residents to reside and bring their babies into the world in a safe and nurturing environment.
