On June 25th, Michael Hennessey, long-standing member of the natural products community, passed. Born and raised in Philadelphia, the founder of Blue Moose Consulting was known for his love of research and vast knowledge for all things herbs, supplements, homeopathic remedies, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Known as an educator, hard worker, and generous individual, Hennessey started Wildberry Education to hold seminars and spread information on health-related topics.
Recognized throughout the health food industry for his fondness of small, independent health food stores, Hennessey often visited the establishments his brokerage represented, answering questions, giving advice, and recommending products he believed they could benefit from regardless of his own vested interest. Colleagues say he looked at the small businesses his firm represented as neighborhood hubs for health, where members of the community could gather and share knowledge. Throughout his 40-year career in the industry, Hennessey worked for the rights of Native Americans, organized national herb conferences, and partnered with acupuncturist and herbalist Dr. Wu Jing-Nuan in his AIDS clinic and TCM practice.
Karen Page, National Sales Manager, Olbas Herbal Remedies, remembers Hennessey: "Michael was Olbas' first broker partner, and I greatly admired his knowledge and passion for Natural Brands, and especially small health food stores. We have lost a true advocate."
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7, from 9am-10:45am. For details visit viscotofuneralhome.com
