Natural Grocers Announces Anchor Sponsorship 

Natural Grocers announced its support as anchor sponsor of the 2023 United States Gaelic Athletic Association (USGAA) National Finals, set to take place in the Denver, CO metro area, August 18 – 20. TSI Group Announces Ingredient Certification

Nutriventia Receives Patent

Nutriventia Limited announced that its clinically studied turmeric ingredient, TurmXTRA, has been awarded patents in the United States and the United Kingdom. These patents have been a priority in the innovation pipeline at Nutriventia and apply to the curcuminoid formulations exhibiting rapid dissolution and optimizing bioavailability from a low 250 mg once-a-day dose, the company said. TurmXTRA is Clean Label Project certified, as it uses excipients obtained from natural sources and is derived from a solvent-free manufacturing process. TurmXTRA offers optimized bioavailability and clinical efficacy at a low 250-mg dosage, the company noted, pointing to studies exhibiting equivalence in terms of plasma curcuminoids, which allows it to be considered a replacement against large doses of conventional turmeric extracts and revealed benefits for TurmXTRA in Joint Health1 and Muscle Recovery. This, Nutriventia explains, benefits consumers by providing efficacy from a convenient once-a-day low dose. 

Sempera Organics, Sinoveda Canada Partner 

Sempera Organics has signed an MOU with Canadian drug development company Sinoveda Canada, Inc., to accelerate the development of fungi-based bio-active formulations for wellness ingredients and products.  “Sempera is on a mission to identify, validate and deliver fungi bio-actives that target human conditions such as cognition, sleep, stress, anxiety and gut flora health, among others,” said Nirmal Nair, CEO and Founder of Sempera Organics. The company added in a press release that Sempera has built a genetic library of fungi species and focuses on the growth, optimization and extraction of actives from fungi mycelia. Sempera recently launched the Core family of mushroom species blends (or stacks) targeting aging, cognition, immunity, gut health and performance. 

CHPA Honors Congressional Self-Care Champions

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) thanked U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and U.S. Representatives Brendan Boyle (D-Pa.), Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa), and Bob Latta (R-Ohio) for their commitment to a healthy America and strong self-care industry. The event was held inside the Kennedy Caucus Room on Capitol Hill and was also attended by CHPA’s corporate members, Board of Directors, stakeholders, and other supporters. 

GoodSAM Highlights Growth, Awards

GoodSAM Foods has achieved a strong first half of 2023 with record-breaking first and second quarters, the company shared. After earning certification as a B Corporation in late 2022, the GoodSAM team focused on continuing to grow its retail presence, innovating new products to continue to make sustainable snacking delicious and accessible, and expanding key partnerships. GoodSAM expanded its retail reach in 2023, adding Sprouts and others. The company also received awards including the Anthem Awards, Inc. 200 and Mindful Awards.

Columbia Grain Acquires Great River Milling 

Columbia Grain International Inc. has expanded into the consumer products market. The company's newly formed subsidiary, Enrich Foods, LLC, completed its first acquisition by purchasing Great River Milling in Fountain City, WI, assuming its milling operation and a new, state-of-the-art packaging and distribution facility.

Coombs Family Farms Transitions to Solar 

Coombs Family Farms has completed the transition to 1,200 solar panels on the rooftops of its production facility for final grid interconnection to a 500 kW AC system, the company shared. Annually, the system is expected to generate over 760,000 kWh, or roughly enough energy to provide 105 homes with electricity per year. The energy will cover more than 75% of Coombs Family Farms’ annual electric needs for production.

Gnosis by Lesaffre Launches Innovations  

Gnosis by Lesaffre (Gnosis) shared the news of its new innovations and accomplishments.

  • Gnosis launched its Red Star Yeast Foodservice offer in the U.S. at this year’s Natural Products Expo West, updating its offer to include individual sachets of Red Star Yeast to be used on the go, 3.0-oz jars that can be placed on tables in restaurants, and 6-lb. and 10-lb. pails for use in kitchens by chefs. Further, the company launched a new Red Star Yeast Website, which features enhanced navigation and new recipes.
  • To advance its LifeinUä L.rhamnosus GG product line, Gnosis launched L. rhanmnosus GG 350, which the company says meets the market standard (350.109 CFU/g) while utilizing proprietary production processes to enhance stability.
  • To prepare for the next era of Vitamin K2, Gnosis introduced a new brand identity for its uniquely clinically validated MenaQ7 Vitamin K2 as MK-7, which includes a thorough refresh of the ingredient’s website. 

Aker BioMarine Joins WIN

Aker BioMarine has joined Women In Nutraceuticals  (WIN) as a founding sponsor. Women In Nutraceuticals (WIN), a nonprofit group spearheaded by global nutraceutical leaders. WIN is dedicated to building support for women in the nutraceuticals industry, to help increase the percentage of women holding leadership roles in the C-suite and across the dietary supplement supply chain, funding for female-led businesses, and women’s participation in nutraceuticals research. 

In related news, WIN announced it has been recognized for meaningful contributions to the nutraceuticals industry with the Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) award for Efforts on Behalf of Industry in 2022. Winners of these awards will be recognized in-person at the NBJ Summit Awards Dinner on July 26, 2023. WIN Board Chair Karen Todd will accept the award on behalf of the organization.

Organic India Unveils New Packaging

Organic India USA unveiled new space-saving packaging for Psyllium Pre & Probiotic Fiber, replacing the existing pouch with a seal canister that fit neatly in any kitchen cabinet. The product is formulated to support digestive wellness, combining five gut-nurturing ingredients. Combined with shelf-stable probiotics and Ayurvedic herbs, this product is an organic formula for gastrointestinal detox and rejuvenation, the company says. 

Patagonia Launches Brewery Partnership

Patagonia Provisions introduced its new brewery partnership program. Eleven partner breweries throughout the country have released new beers, each brewed with Regenerative Organic Certified Kernza, a deeply rooted perennial grain, the company shared. By making beer with more perennial grains, breweries have the potential to move the industry toward a more regenerative future, Patagonia says.
