Ronkonkoma, NY—Supplement manufacturer and distributor NBTY has received two Gold level national awards at a ceremony hosted by the Golden Bridge Awards, one for Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year and another for Employee Communications Campaign of the Year.

The Golden Bridge Awards are an annual industry and peers recognition program honoring companies in several industry categories. Some other award categories are Best Innovations, Women in Business and Customer Satisfaction.

NBTY received the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year based on the over $7 million in donations the company has made. These include product donations of vitamins, supplements, nutrition bars and monetary donations from the company’s charitable organization, NBTY Helping Hands. These donations went to over 30 charitable organizations both in the U.S. and internationally. The Employee Communications Campaign of the Year was given for the company’s Global Walk to Wellness. This virtual “walk around the world” involved thousands of associates collectively walking office to office to collectively walk enough steps to circle the world. In total, almost 3,000 people collectively covered 136,241.2 miles to camaraderie and fitness.

In a statement, Karla Packer, senior vice president of human resources at NBTY, praised the company’s associates for playing an important role in these initiatives. She was also very pleased about recieviing the awards, saying, Being awarded for actions that both positively impact our corporate culture and improve the health and wellness of others is an honor and a validation of our wellness mission.”
