Industry associations are sounding the alarm on New Jersey State Assembly Bill A1848, which would prohibit the sale of certain dietary supplements to minors. 

Legislation aimed at restricting access to dietary supplements has failed to pass the CA state legislature and will not advance during this legislative session.

There are fundamental issues at stake for all businesses that rely on their right to communicate freely about their products, stresses CRN's Steve Mister.

The Dietary Supplement Listing Act of 2024 would require dietary supplement manufacturers to list their products with FDA.

"Obviously, there is no magic bullet for mortality, however, diet and exercise are bullet-proof for life-long health goals," said NPA's Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D.

Industry experts caution that the law will restrict consumer access to safe dietary supplements.

The law punishes truthful, otherwise lawful communications by imposing age restrictions based on representations communicated about a product, rather than the actual safety of the product itself, CRN stressed.

FDA's guidance is to help manufacturers and distributors of new dietary ingredients (NDIs) and dietary supplements prepare and submit new dietary ingredient notifications (NDINs).
