Based on the FDA’s sampling and testing results, the agency is concerned that other products marketed as tejocote root (including with other names such as Crataegus mexicana, Raiz de Tejocote, and Mexican Hawthorn) may contain yellow oleander. 

“Based on peer-reviewed research from leading experts, highly concentrated or semi-synthetic 7-OH products pose significant public health risks and have been falsely marketed as ‘kratom,’” said NPA's Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D.
