New Brunswick, NJ—Natreon’s PrimaVie shilajit extract has been shown in a new study to improve skin health and appearance, according to a press release.

In the study, titled "Skin Transcriptome of Middle-Aged Women Supplemented With Natural Herbo-mineral Shilajit Shows Induction of Microvascular and Extracellular Matrix Mechanisms," healthy female adults took a placebo, 125mg of PrimaVie, or 250mg of PrimaVie for 14 weeks. At the higher dose, shilajit improved skin perfusion, and Ingenuity Pathway Analysis found that shilajit induced genes relevant to endothelial cell migration, growth of blood vessels, and other extra-cellular matrix (ECM) proteins including collagen.

Dr. Sanni Raju, CEO of Natreon, said in the release: “This study adds to the growing clinical evidence for all the anti-aging benefits of PrimaVie shilajit. Along with its earlier clinical studies, it’s proven that PrimaVie shows highly significant upregulations of genes coding collagens and ECM proteins in skeletal muscle, such effect being synergistic with exercise. It also has shown to improve testosterone levels, mitrochondrial function, endothelial function and cardiovascular health in healthy subjects.”
