Pasadena, TX —Texas becomes the latest state to open its door to medical marijuana and Knox Medical is expected to begin home delivery of CBD oil throughout Harris County by Dec. 31.

Cansortium Texas, which is using its Florida business name Knox Medical, is one of three organizations granted permission to cultivate, extract and dispense approved medical cannabis products under the Texas Compassionate Use Act. The bill , which was signed into law on June 1, 2015, prohibits any form of whole plant consumption.

Patients with a medical marijuana card will be legally permitted to access low-TCH cannabis oil/extracts. Two doctors will have to agree that the patient would benefit. It's taken two years for the plants to be cultivated and ready for use.

According to theFort Worth Star Telegram, delivery will be made in white, unmarked delivery vans that include built-in security.

Cansortium Texas, Compassionate Cultivation are expected to be first to market. Another grower, Surterra, has been conditionally approved to dispense, according to theTexas Department of Public Safety (DPS) website.

Allowed to grow, process and distribute their CBD-rich oils under the Texas Compassionate Use Act, three dispensaries have already been licensed to operate in the state, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) website. Texas law defines cannabis-derived medicine as not exceeding 0.5% THC or 10% CBD by weight.

While Knox Medical will be the first medical marijuana dispensary to deliver CBD oil in Texas, Surterra and Compassionate Cultivation are projected to follow shortly thereafter. Knox has no plans to open a brick-and-mortar operation at this time.
