New York, NY—The 56th Summer Fancy Foods show was held here from June 27–29 at the Jacob K. Javits Center featuring 180,000 products, 2,500 exhibitors, 81 represented countries and 24,000 attendees with a total of 331,000 tasty square feet of show floor. Show highlights included:
• The sofi (specialty outstanding food innovation) Awards Showcase of 2010 honored outstanding specialty foods and beverages of the year in 33 categories. The sofi Gold winner for best USDA-Approved Organic Product was Truly Organic Baking’s Bakers Basics Organic Banana Bread Mix.
• Show trends included many companies offering natural and gluten-free versions of existing products or new launches in those categories.
•The show announced a donation of more than 150,000 pounds of specialty foods and beverages to City Harvest, a food rescue organization, at the end of the three-day trade event.
Next year, the Summer Fancy Foods show will be held in Washington, D.C. to allow for renovations at the Javits Center.
