The Specialty Food Foundation, a philanthropic program of the Specialty Food Association, just awarded $250,000 in grants to 14 food recovery and hunger relief groups. Recipients include Ceres Community Project, Sebastopol, CA; Farmer Foodshare, Chapel Hill, NC and 12 others. The Foundation was created in Spring 2014.

Boulder, CO-based Boulder Granola has announced that its entire granola line will be certified gluten free, organic, vegan and Non-GMO Project Verified.

Choice Organic Teas, Seattle, WA, updated the packaging on its Original Line to showcase its certification and verification logos, including Fair Trade, non-GMO, gluten-free and kosher. The array of logos is now visible on the front and side panels.

Certain assets of Wholesoy & Co., San Francisco, CA, are to be acquired by Nutroganics, Inc., Bethesda, MD. Wholesoy is an organic, non-GMO soy yogurt brand that is distributed nationally and generates approximately $7 million in annual revenue. The transaction is subject to several conditions, including Nutroganics working out terms with Wholesoy’s vendors and creditors. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
