Huntington Station, NY—Frank D’Amelio, Sr., CEO of Bio-Botanica, passed away on June 11, 2021.

D’Amelio and his wife Josephine founded the company in 1972, according to thecompany’s website, and together, the two brought Bio-Botanica to where it is today: with a 160,000 square-foot GMP certified manufacturing facility, four retail brands, and a 49-year-long history of putting science first, all while being family-owned.

D’Amelio developed a proprietary Bio-Chelation extraction process in order to avoid high-alcoholic or toxic solvents. He also developed the Advanced Botanical Fingerprint Technology, in order to identify unique “fingerprints” of each plant so that Bio-Botanica could set standards for proving the authenticity of each herb; along the same lines, the company uses “holistic authentication” to capture the entire phytochemical spectrum of a plant, rather than just analyzing a few components.
