It is said the Universe puts you where you are supposed to be, so it’s an honor to join this community as editor of WholeFoods Magazine.
I look forward to employing my background in media, education, brand marketing and the theater of retail to help you grow your business — whether it’s competing creatively with the ongoing challenge of Amazon or sharing the latest scientific findings about nutrition, supplements and stress. (Personally, I can’t wait for research to confirm that ice cream is a health food!)
When I met Howie and Heather Wainer I was drawn to their energy and passion for this industry and knew we could learn a lot from each other.
I began my career as a newspaper reporter and have spent more than 15 years as an editor covering the marketing and distribution of big brands. Most recently I’ve been a MediaPost insider, writing columns on cross-channel marketing and customer experience. A recurring theme is how essential it is to connect the dots between the real world and virtual one while not losing the human touch along the way.
My digital chops also run deep and include retail — selling books, music and education products forBarnesandnoble.com. AtiVillage.com, my team created the first online yoga series — suitable for practicing at a desk. We called it Keyboard Yoga. I’ve managed a virtual world to teach kids about money and helped people find the career of their dreams at Aol Jobs.
I’ve had the privilege of living in Denmark and experiencing sustainability in action. Last summer I immersed myself in an organic lifestyle — working at the bookstore of The Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, N.Y., and living in a tent. This heightened my awareness of how what we put into our bodies has a ripple effect throughout the world.
That’s enough about me. I am eager to hear what keeps you up at night and to share your success stories. You can reach me atlauriepetersen@wfcinc.comor (908)769-1160 ext. 216.
If you’re ever in the neighborhood, let me treat you to a cup of tea!
