New opportunities are wonderful, exciting, and always offer something new to learn.
I had never attended a conference where approximately 90% of the attendees were women. Some are in the C-suite, and others are striving to get there, but all (including the men in attendance) share the same goals: gender, social, and economic equality in the nutraceuticals industry. Be sure to put this event on your calendar for next year—regardless of gender.
Not long after that inspiring event, I traveled a bit further from home to Mumbai, India, to attend the Nutrify Today C-Suite Sumflex. There, I met with successful leaders from companies based in India that are ready to expand into the U.S. market, and also connected with companies I was already familiar with to catch up on what’s new. The sessions at Sumflex were highly informative, and I was invited to join a panel titled Roots of Trust: Navigating Botanical Traceability & Sustainability for a Resilient Future.
I also attended a WIN event in India, and friends from the U.S. joined me there as well. Amy Summers from Pitch Publicity was the event’s emcee and she shared our experiences on social media. She will also be writing an in-depth story about the event, so watch for that. Also coming soon: Kantha Shelke of Corvus Blue will provide a scientific perspective on Sumflex.
Another highlight of the event: We debuted our new India/America Boardroom Series, with our first guest, William Hood. You can view that conversation here, and stay tuned each month for more insightful and inspirational guests. This venture is a partnership between WholeFoods Magazine, Nutrify Today, and Industry Transparency Center (ITC).
While in India, I also had the opportunity to visit Natural Remedies in Bangalore. I was impressed with their labs and all the research and testing they do before their products are released to their customers. Getting to meet one of the company's owners—Anurag Agarwal, whose title is Conciousness Gardener—was a real treat. I can see why Natural Remedies has been named one of the happiest places to work.
Stepping out of my comfort zone this spring to attend new trade shows and conferences led to incredible experiences, new connections, and the chance to reconnect with old friends. These opportunities will bring new content and introduce you to new companies. I look forward to sharing more with you!
