Omega-3 for Muscle Recovery
Omega-3 ingredient EPAX 4020TGN can help improve muscle contractile function and post-injury muscle recovery, according to a new pilot study. Conducted at the University of South Florida, the dietary intervention was conducted on adult and aging rats over eight-weeks. Key points from the pre-clinical in vivo and in vitro research showed:
- The potential benefits for healthy aging and sports recovery of Epax's highly concentrated, marine-derived triglyceride oil
- Inclusion of EPAX 4020TGN inhibited age-related loss of muscle strength
- EPAX 4020TGN significantly improved muscle strength following injury after a seven-day recovery period
- Incubation of cells with EPAX 4020TGN improved cell membrane repair after damage
- EPAX 4020TGN might aid recovery of muscle function that is impaired as a result of aging or injury
- Repair of cell membrane damage may be a common mechanism for muscle repair
Epax Clinical Research Manager, Dr. Derek Tobin, commented on the latest research results: “These findings describe a novel means by which EPA and DHA supplementation can support muscle cell repair after injury, and help reduce the muscle decline that occurs as a result of aging. Additionally, in a sports nutrition context, they demonstrate the potential benefits of omega-3 for the improvement of muscle recovery after hard training.”
Superfood for Vascular Health
A new study from the University of Texas at Arlington has shown participants' vascular health improved by 23% in just two weeks with Goode Health's Superfood Moroccan Chocolate Blend. The high antioxidants, polyphenols, and anti-inflammatory properties of the brand's fiber also led to a 10% in cholesterol levels in the same time period. For the experiment, 15 individuals (5 male; age: 33±12 yr.; BMI 30±7 kg/m2) consumed the Goode Health LLC beverage (experimental condition) and 11 individuals (6 male; age: 23±6 yr.; BMI 27±5 kg/m2) were given the control beverage. For each condition, measures were assessed before (pre) and 14-days following (post) consumption of either the experimental or control beverage. Peripheral vascular function was assessed as vasodilation in the brachial artery (flow mediated vasodilation; %FMD) in the forearm vasculature following 5 min of forearm ischemia.
Results showed that at the end of the two week period, candidates who had consumed the Goode Health drink showed noticeably reduced reduced total cholesterol (Total-C, Pre: 176±28 vs. Post: 159±25 mg/dl, p=0.04) with a trend towards a reduction in LDLC (Pre: 108±24 vs. Post: 98±22 mg/dl, p=0.075). %FMD was augmented following 14-days of experimental beverage consumption (Pre: 4.7±2.0 vs. Post: 5.8±2%, p=0.04). No differences in any of the measured variables were recorded 14 days after consumption of the control beverage (p>0.05 for all comparisons). Future studies are expected to expand these findings for larger group of individuals.
Ashwagandha for Post Menopause Support
Kerry Group's Sensoril ashwagandha helps support women's quality of life post menopause, according to a new clinical study. Published in the Journal of Menopausal Medicine, the latest research validates Sensoril's ability to support hormonal changes associated with menopause that can lead to hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. Other insights from the study include:
- 24% decrease in presence and severity of vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes, sweating, and night sweats.
- 16% decrease in presence and severity of psychosocial symptoms such as poor memory, anxious feelings, lower productivity, dissatisfaction with personal life, and more.
- 14% decrease in presence and severity of physical symptoms related to sleep, fatigue, strength, stamina, energy, appearance, aches and pains, and more.
- 13% decrease in presence and severity of issues related to sexual health, such as intimacy avoidance.
“Women are looking for a proactive approach to wellbeing, where their specific health needs are understood and met with the right product at the right time, and Kerry is rising to the occasion,” shared Dr. Monica Maria Olivares, RDA Director of Women’s & Infant Health at Kerry. “This study further supports the current and extensive research naming Sensoril a safe and effective solution. Driving progress in women’s health is of vital importance to us at Kerry, which is why we have curated a suite of naturally sourced and clinically studied ingredients that support women across every life stage."

Turmeric Extract for Joint Comfort and Function
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-enrolled study has found that Nutriventia's TurmXTRA 60N supports knee mobility. 139 participants, aged between 45-75 years old, were either given a daily 250 mg of TurmXTRA 60N or a placebo and were evaluated at the end of a 90 day period using the visual analog scale (VAS) and Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) questionnaire to measure knee function and pain intensity. Findings from the report included:
- Early & Sustained Joint Comfort: Participants taking TurmXTRA 60N reported improved joint comfort as early as day 7, with a significantly higher mean reduction in VAS score from baseline to day 90 compared to the placebo group.
- Enhanced Knee Function: Participants taking TurmXTRA 60N showed significant improvement in Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) across all domains (pain, symptoms, activities of daily living, function in sport and recreation, and knee-related quality of life) on Day 90 compared to the placebo group.
- Favorable Biological Response: The study also observed positive changes in key biological indicators associated with joint health over 90 days in participants taking TurmXTRA 60N, suggesting potential benefits in supporting joint resilience over time.
Rajat Mittal Shah, Co-founder, Nutriventia, commented on the latest study, "TurmXTRA 60N has consistently been studied in joint and muscle health for healthy individuals. This marks our first clinical study in individuals with mild-to-moderate joint degradation, and we are encouraged by the significant improvements observed with just a small daily dose. TurmXTRA 60N was designed to reduce pill burden while delivering clinically meaningful benefits; these findings further validate its potential in supporting joint health."
