Gencor and Gnosis Enter Exclusive Distribution Deal
Gencor has announced an exclusive partnership with Gnosis by Lesaffre as its personal U.S. distribution partner for sustainable Rhodiola (rosea or crenulata) Bioactive and LANDKIND Pure Salidroside. The distribution deal will give U.S. customers access to LANDKIND Pure Salidroside, a fermented salidroside bioactive that is gluten-free, vegan, Halal-certified, and acceptable for capsules, tablets, powders.
Rhodiola is a well-known botanical used in natural products for its effects on performance energy levels. Salidroside is Rhodiola's most studied bioactive and plays a critical role in its efficacy. LANDKIND Pure Salidroside is created through a unique fermentation process that eliminates the need to harvest the endangered Rhodiola species.

In other Gnosis news, the company sponsored the 2024 FASEB (Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology) B Vitamins and One-Carbon Metabolism Conference. From August 11-19, scientists and clinicians gathered to present, discuss, and evaluate the latest developments in basic, public health, clinical and applied research in the field to advance medical and public health knowledge. During the event, long-time Gnosis research collaborator, Prof. Teodoro Bottiglieri, hosted a panel at the “Advances in Metabolics” workshop. "Studying metabolomics in relation to B-vitamins and one-carbon metabolism disorders is important because these pathways are crucial for DNA function and overall health,” said Prof. Bottiglieri, Program Director of the Center of Metabolomics at Baylor Scott & White Research Institute in Dallas, TX.
The conference featured a wide range of topics, including global deficiencies, impact on fetal and post-natal health, supplementation, role in epigenomics, and implications for neurological disorders, etc., focusing on cognitive health.
Organic Center Receives USDA Award
The Organic Center has received a $705,000 award to push forward its efforts including the development of an educational curriculum and mentoring program to promote greater diversity in the organic industry. The funds were received via U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Organic Agriculture Research and Extension initiative (OREI) program and will enable the Organic Center to continue its four-year project working with educators and students to develop a culturally relevant curriculum that gives participants information about organic and the variety of professional career opportunities across the industry. The scope of the project includes establishing and sponsoring an eight-week Organic Student Fellowship Program, facilitating one-on-one mentoring opportunities for students with organic industry professionals and academic experts, and week-long workshops for educators and students that will coincide with the Organic Trade Association’s Organic Week in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Amber Sciligo, Director of Science Programs for The Organic Center, shared his thoughts on the grant, “We are thrilled to receive this grant, and we thank the USDA for recognizing the urgent need to make the organic sector a more just and equitable space with opportunities for everyone... This is the largest grant The Organic Center has ever received and our first curriculum grant. We are eager to get started.”
Funded through USDA's National institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), USDA has allocated over $50.5 million in grants for 23 OREI projects and seven Organic Transitions Program (ORG) projects.

Gadot Targets Menopause Wellness

Nature's Bakery Donates to Fight Hunger
Nature's Bakery has made a donation of $150,000 to No Kid Hungry, a campaign dedicated to the ending of childhood hunger, and several other initiatives in support of September's Hunger Action Month campaign. The nationwide program, held every September, aims to raise awareness for the national hunger issue. "With over 13 million children in America living with hunger, our core belief is that children must feel nourished to flourish; this has driven our desire to partner with No Kid Hungry for a third consecutive year... Nutrition is essential for students to learn, focus, and thrive. The stark reality that 1 in 5 kids in the U.S. could face hunger this year has motivated us to take further action to help provide children with the nourishment they need to succeed," commented Nature's Bakery CEO Steve Gardiner.
In addition to their financial support of No Kid Hungry, Nature's Bakery has donated over 75,000 snack bars to the Utah Food Bank, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Northern Nevada Food Bank, and St. Louis Food Bank, and will be donating 2,000 45-piece school supply kits and 8,000 snack bars to schools within its offices and baking facilities areas including Reno and Carson City, NV; Hazelwood, MO; Pasadena, CA; and Salt Lake City, UT in hopes of enhance student's learning experiences and ensuring they have the necessary resources for academic success.
Systemic Formulas Switches Production System
Herbal blends and powdered vitamins manufacturer, Systemic Formulas, has streamlined its production by replacing its Paddle Mixer with a Rotary Batch Mixer, cutting its mixing and cleaning time by 80%. “Cleaning took 2.5 to 3 hours with our old mixer, which operated like a cement truck with paddles... With the Rotary Batch Mixer, we pared cleaning cycle time down to 30 minutes. The large discharge gate and multiple doors give us easy access for final wipe-down cleaning," shared Production Manager Spencer Hansen.
With its new machinery, Systemic Formulas has been able to drastically reduce the cleaning cycle time, sanitize five-times faster, and increase ease of access for its employees during final cleaning steps of the process. Currently, the company offers capsules, powders, liquids, and Sachet daily-dose packaging, with multiple ingredients and over 150 different SKUs. Products are batched according to their recipes which may contain from 15 to 60 raw materials including vitamins, minerals, enzymes, RNA/DNA tissue factors, amino acids, and botanicals. With its previous machinery there was a greater demand in responsibility for eliminating material waste by its employees.
