Bengaluru, India—Following the passing of company founder Dr. Muhammed Majeed, Sami-Sabinsa Group has announced that Anju Majeed, Ph.D., is the new Executive Chairperson, assuming the role her father held until his death on March 13, 2024. In addition, Shaheen Majeed has been named Global Managing Director & CEO.

Dr. Anju Majeed received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Rutgers University in microbiology and molecular genetics, and an additional Master’s degree in biological sciences from Johns Hopkins. She then received her Ph.D. in Microbiology from Bharathidasan University. Dr. Anju Majeed was a National Institute of Health Research Fellow from 2001-2005, the company shared, and she has expertise in SAS and clinical SAS database management. She is based in the Sami-Sabinsa Group headquarters in Bengaluru, India.  

Sami-Sabinsa shared that Dr. Anju Majeed is highly motivated person, who drives new technologies and processes, develops new product formulations, and creates scalable manufacturing processes for Sami, which are further used in clinical trials through all phases of development. Earlier in her career she served as Sami-Sabinsa Group Director and Senior Scientist, working closely with analytical and formulation scientists and operating via multi-functional global teams, including API manufacturing, process R&D, pre-formulation, and pilot plant operations.

Shaheen Majeed

In addition to being named Global Managing Director & CEO, Shaheen Majeed has been inducted onto the Sami-Sabinsa Group Board of Directors effective April 01, 2024. For 25 years, Shaheen Majeed played a key role in building Sabinsa into a global leader with a vast ingredient portfolio, the company shared. Throughout the years, he held various positions with Sabinsa, including roles in sales, supply chain, manufacturing, and global marketing. For four years he served as President Worldwide, where he was instrumental in executing the global strategies, expanding the company's footprints, ensuring cGMP and regulatory compliance, and guiding several clinical studies through the publishing process, the company shared. Shaheen holds 46 U.S. & International patents.

Shaheen Majeed also served as CEO of three subsidiaries of BGG World: HB Natural Ingredients, BGG Americas, and Algae Health Sciences.
