The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) is pleased to welcome two additions. Alexis Durham is now Director of Education. An herbalist and teacher coming to AHPA from her previous role as Director of Botanical Affairs at Herb Pharm, Durham develops and manages AHPA’s educational programs in addition to planning and coordinating AHPA meetings and events. AHPA also announced Daniela Gonzalez as Office Administrator. Gonzalez manages the financial and administrative operations behind AHPA’s industry advocacy and service to members. 

Josh Burris has joined the board at Vitamin Shoppe, LLC. He will provide strategic advice and counsel to the company on a range of business priorities across retail, operations, franchising, wholesale, vendor relationships, international expansion, and other growth and new business initiatives. Burris is CEO of rue21, which he joined after leaving the position of CEO of GNC.

Agri-Mark, Inc. / Cabot Creamery Cooperative recently filled three key leadership positions. CEO David Lynn announced that Dan Serna has joined the cooperative as Chief Financial Officer, Spencer McDonald has been hired as Senior Vice President of Sales, and Derek Zwegust has been promoted to Vice President of Supply Chain & Logistics. Serna has returned to Agri-Mark where he first worked as a college intern in 2004, and upon graduation in 2008 from Yale University, he spent two years as a business analyst. During that time, Serna tackled projects across all functional areas of the cooperative, from operations, finance, sales, marketing, quality assurance, logistics, and membership, giving him a broad understanding of Agri-Mark. McDonald has nearly 30 years of experience in CPG, sales, business strategy, and develoment. He has implemented successful growth strategies across multiple national brands, mainly in the food industry. Zwegust has served as Director of Corporate Strategy and led Agri-Mark’s strategic planning process, an area in which he will continue to be closely involved. He started with the cooperative as Financial Analyst nearly five years ago. 

Cyanotech Corporation announced the appointment of Collette Kakuk as Chief Strategic and Commercial Officer. Kakuk brings a background in business development, strategy, and marketing to add significant value to Cyanotech’s growing stable of products. The company says her industry experience, combined with a passionate drive for sustainable and authentic product sourcing, make her an ideal addition to Cyanotech’s executive team. 

Aspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has named Nelson Fretwell as VP Sales, Bulk/Finished Goods. Most recently, Fretwell served as the VP of Global Sourcing for GNC Holdings, where he was responsible for sourcing and onboarding new manufacturing partners for solid dose, RTD’s, gummies and powders. Prior to GNC, he was an account manager with Watson/Glanbia Nutritionals, where he oversaw several key accounts in the dietary supplement business.
