Festival Season in Green

July 17, 2017
Nancy Trent
The Green Festival makes its rounds throughout the year in key cities. Last month it landed in New York City at the Jacob Javits Center. It’s known as the longest-running sustainable and green living event in the United States. It’s where thousands of local green living experts and businesses get together to see what’s new and what’s next in sustainability.

“With everything happening with climate change and environmental protection, New Yorkers came out in full force to support the green community and our collaboration with the Plant-Powered Run,” said Dr. Corinna Basler, president of the Green Festivals Inc.

Here are a few trends I spotted at this year’s event.

Green sleeps are deeper sleeps

SAMINA encourages healthy sleep through its line of organic mattresses and sleep accessories originally developed in Austria that promote every aspect of naturally healthy sleep. From natural bed frames to nursing pillows SAMINA understands the importance of getting an adequate amount of sleep. While you get your much-needed zzzz’s they ensure all of their products align with their goal to “improve the quality of peoples’ lives” with the intent to achieve “better sleep and living healthier, fitter, and more successful lives."

Neutralizing the environment naturally

Moso Naturals, a line of air purifiers are not only effective, but also safe, sustainable, and healthy for people, pets, and the planet. Unlike common air fresheners and purifiers, made with a cocktail of toxic chemicals, The Moso Bag is made with Moso bamboo charcoal from China, where it is referred to as the “black diamond.” Moso bamboo is eco-friendly, sustainable, affordable, and testing discovered that it works incredibly well to remove pollutants and allergens from the air — literally giving you a breath of fresh air! After two years as an air purifier, the Moso Bag makes a wonderful addition to your garden. You can sprinkle the bamboo charcoal into the soil, where it helps plants absorb moisture and nutrients, completing its lifecycle as a product that comes from the earth and ultimately gives back to the earth.

Holistic Smiles

Going to the dentist is an appointment that is dreaded by many, but the Tribeca Center for Integrative Holistic Dentistry has a remedy for that! Dr. Lewis Gross and a team of specialists make a trip to the dentist feel like a trip to the spa. For more than 30 years, the team has provided New York City residents comprehensive holistic dentistry that not only focuses on just isolated problems, but keeps their patient’s overall health in mind. This Tribeca dentist office emphasizes a family-oriented environment that focuses on patient comfort that makes a trip one you will look forward to!

Greener Super-Duper Foods

Put down your energy drinks, gels, bars, and supplements and partake in a more effective and nutritional way to obtain energy — ENERGYbits! These tablets are made with one ingredient, algae the next “it” superfood, which has one calorie, zero carbs and eliminates fatigue and hunger instantly without causing stomach distress. Algae contain 1,000 times more nutrition than anything else in the world. In fact, one gram of algae contains the nutritional equivalent of 1,000 grams of fruits and vegetables. ENERGYbits are perfect for Keto, Paleo, Vegan, Low-Carb or Low-Calorie diets and will allow you to improve your energy, wellness and waistline all at the same time! The company also makes RecoveryBits, VitalityBits, and SkinnyBits.

Putting the flavor back in your nutrition

VeganSmart, a line of delicious, plant-based nutritional shakes, with no dairy, eggs, soy, artificial sweeteners, flavors, colors, preservatives, cholesterol, acesulfame-K, MSG, and zero trans-fat. VeganSmart’s flavorful shakes are just what the doctor ordered! Complete Protein Blend: Contains 5 different non-GMO plant based proteins providing essential amino acids for building and repairing tissue and muscle. It is also available in a variety of flavors from Vanilla to Peaches and Cream!

I will be speaking at the next Green Festival in Los Angeles (September 23-24).
