Ann Arbor, MI—NSF International has launched new product certification marks for its Contents Certified and Certified Sport® programs, with the goal of better distinguishing certified products, according to a press release.

The new marks were developed with feedback from current certified brand owners, coaches, athletes and consumers, the company says. They will make it easier for consumers and athletes to protect their health in choosing certified products that meet NSF requirements for health and safety, while helping consumers easily differentiate between NSF’s Contents Certified mark and its Certified for Sport® mark.

The new Contents Certified mark is blue with “CONTENTS CERTIFIED” in large print, certifying that the contents have been tested to ensure they do not contain unsafe levels of contaminants and to verify label claims. The Certified for Sport® certification mark features “CERTIFIED SPORT” in large print, certifying that in addition to testing for contaminants and label claims, the product does not contain prohibited substances or masking agents.

The release says the redesign includes both horizontal and vertical orientations, as well as alternate color schemes so as to fit any label.

Lori Bestervelt, executive VP and chief technical officer at NSF international, said in the release, “With the variety of NSF International marks in use we understood from our customers the need to create new dietary supplements and nutritional product certification program marks that are unique and instantly distinguishable for consumers.”

The release says the transition to the new marks will be complete by June 30, 2020.
