Boynton Beach, FL--In response to FDA analysis, Happy Together, Inc., has issued a voluntaryrecallof its Rhino 5k capsules. The product, which is distributed to consumers via the Internet, is marketed as a dietary supplement for male sexual enhancement, but testing by the FDA founds these products to be tainted with sildenafil and tadalafil--the active ingredients in Viagra and Cialis, respectively. The presence of these ingredients, which are FDA approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, renders the Rhino products as unapproved drugs.  Customers who have the Rhino 5k products are advised to stop use and properly discard the product.

The recall statement specified that men with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease may be on medications that, if taken with these Rhino pills, could lower blood pressure to life-threatening levels.

To date, according to the statement, Happy Together has not received reports of adverse events related to the recall. Anyone experiencing an adverse health effect that may be related to a drug masquerading as a dietary supplement is encouraged to report it through the FDA’s MedWatch Safety Information Program.

As WholeFoods previously reported, Loren Israelsen, president of the United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA), has said,  “Addressing the spiked ingredients issue is a growing industry priority and one that UNPA will be focusing on in 2019.”
