Morristown, NJ, and Mumbai, India—OmniActive Health Technologies announced the results of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study on enXtra. The goal: to evaluate the efficacy of the caffeine-alternative energy supplement on mental alertness and fatigue after a single serving of 300 mg/d of enXtra. OmniActive expects the study, which involved 62 subjects, to be published later this year.

The findings on this nootropic:

Consumption of enXtra resulted in a quick increase in mental alertness. This boost was sustained through a 5-hour time period, the company reports. Scores for attention and focus also improved; benefits for attention were seen in just 30 minutes.

“These data further demonstrate enXtra’s benefits as a safe, plant-based nootropic ingredient,” said Deshanie Rai, Ph.D., FACN, VP, Global Scientific and Regulatory Affairs at OmniActive, in a press release. "The findings related to increased mental alertness are consistent with our previously published studies, while these new results additionally demonstrated that individuals who consumed enXtra rated themselves as feeling more energized and less fatigued at the end of the study."

Mark Eisenacher, Chief Marketing Officer at OmniActive, added, “We’re really excited about enXtra’s potential at a time when consumers are hyper-focused on energy and sleep. This new science strengthens enXtra’s unique position in the market as an excellent caffeine-free alternative for energy that is less disruptive to consumers’ daily routines."

enXtra is made from a proprietary extract of DNA-authenticated Alpinia galanga, better known as Thai ginger. OmniActive says the ingredient is well suited for use in energy drinks, RTDs, shots, bars, snacks, gummies, stick packs, and more.
