Natural and organic food products wholesale distributor, United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI), has reported it might have been victim to a potential massive cyberattack. The exact number for the customers that have been affected by the incident are not yet known, however, the company currently services morethan 30,000 grocery store clients, including Whole Foods Market. UNFI issued the following the statement following the news of their service disruption on their company website:

"We have identified unauthorized activity in our systems and have proactively taken some systems offline while we investigate. As soon as we discovered the activity, an investigation was initiated with the help of leading forensics experts and we have notified law enforcement. We are assessing the unauthorized activity and working to restore our systems to safely bring them back online. As we work through this issue, our customers, suppliers, and associates are our highest priority. We are working closely with them to minimize disruption as much as possible."

Freightwaves.com is reporting UNFI has reached out to law enforcement and is working with forensics experts on the investigation. According to CNN, UNFI became aware of a disturbance to its information technology systems on June 5th which caused “temporary disruptions to the company’s business operations.”
