Lief Labs recently celebrated its 15-year anniversary in a ceremony at the company's Valencia headquarters. The guest list included Lief's 200-plus employees, guest speaker U.S. Senator Alex Padilla, and notable local business and education leaders. Founder and CEO Adel Villalobos spoke at the event and thanked his family as well as his extended Lief family for their continued support and dedication to helping the company reach the milestone. Several awards of recognition were given at the event. Villalobos presented Senator Padilla with special awards recognizing his commitment to community leadership and an award on behalf of Lief, the Natural Products Association (NPA) and the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) for his support of the dietary supplement industry. Certificates of recognition for Lief Labs were also presented to Villalobos from the following: U.S. Senator Alex Padilla, Stephanie English, Senior Field Deputy for L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger; Kris Hough, Field Representative for California State Senator Scott Wilk; Arturo Garcia-Mendoza, California State Assembly District Director for Assemblywoman Luz Rivas; and Suzette Valladares, Former Assemblywoman and current California State Senate Candidate.

Mushroom Council Launches Mushroom Loyalist

Mushroom lovers unite! The Mushroom Council, a group made up of fresh market mushroom producers and importers, is launching a new multimedia marketing initiative this March targeted toward its top three percent of consumers. The "Mushroom Loyalist" campaign will look to increase sales through shopper data-informed advertising, contextual recipe advertising, social media and search engine ads, and streaming television and YouTube spots all aimed at promoting mushrooms and their versatility in the kitchen. 


Califia Farms Goes 100% Recycled

Plant-based beverage brand Califia Farms has transitioned all of its U.S. and Canadian bottles to 100% recycled plastic (rPET). The move will help reduce the company's greenhouse gas emissions by at least 19%, cut its energy use in half, and increase its overall sustainability efforts. “This transition to 100% rPET represents a significant commitment to soften Califia’s environmental footprint,” said Dave Ritterbush, Chief Executive Officer at Califia Farms.

Soil & Climate Health Initiative Verified

The first two manufacturers from a growing selection of companies have been given the newly launched Soil & Climate Health Initiative Verified label. The designation has been given to Roots Chips, a family-run farm-to-bag Idaho potato chip company and PACHA, an organic food company that uses sprouted buckwheat and sea salt with organic herbs and spices to make gluten-free breads after having successfully completed an independent verification process. To qualify for the new label, products must be made with ingredients from farms practicing regenerative agriculture.
