CHPA Approves House Passage of Bipartisan Tax Package

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) expressed their approval of the U.S. House of Representatives passing H.R. 7024, the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. The new legislation which consists of interest deductibility, 100% expensing, research and development (R&D) expensing, and expanding small business expensing caps will aim to fuel innovation and strengthen America’s global competitiveness. “This legislation will significantly contribute to the well-being of American consumers through measures that will bolster the financial stability of working families, empower businesses to innovate, and reinforce America’s competitiveness on the global stage,” said CHPA President and CEO Scott Melville. “CHPA applauds the House for prioritizing this legislation and encourages the Senate to also act swiftly and send this package to the President’s desk for signature.”  

Vitaquest Secures USP Verification at All Manufacturing Sites

Vitaquest International announced that after an extensive review of its dietary supplement manufacturing systems and processes, the company has successfully completed the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) Quality Systems GMP Audit Program for three of its facilities. Vitaquest produces more than 4,000 health and wellness consumer products at three facilities, all of which have now successfully completed the USP program. Vitaquest successfully completed a multi-step process that included GMP facility audits, and product quality control and manufacturing (QCM) process evaluation to secure USP Verification.The company says this will give its clients and the  public increased confidence that the supplements Vitaquest develops are made according to the industry’s highest standards of quality control.

IFT Reacts to New Legislation

Nammex Reports Demand for Turkey Tail Mushroom

Nammex reported an exponential increase in its cultivated Turkey tail mushroom harvest, which is in the third year of its initiative. Traditionally sought for its immune supporting benefits, demand for turkey tail has increased and added pressure on the ecosystem, Nammex said. When compared to wildcrafted mushrooms that grow all over the world, Nammex says its harvest is cleaner and more consistent in quality.

Cargill Meets WHO Best Practice Standard

Cargill says it is the first global edible oils supplier to meet the World Health Organization’s best practice on eliminating industrially produced trans-fatty acids. The company’s worldwide edible oils portfolio meets the recommended maximum tolerance level for industrially produced trans-fatty acids (iTFA) in fats and oils. Cargill has been committed to removing iTFAs from its fats and oils portfolio for decades. In 2021, the company announced its commitment through investments to upgrade its facilities and worked closely with customers in two dozen countries to reformulate new product solutions.

Previously only approved for children ages three and up, this latest announcement now allows for the company’s human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) ingredient to be accessible throughout the whole early life nutrition category in Thailand. 

Bioriginal Acquires POS Biosciences

Bioriginal Food & Science Corp. announced the acquisition of POS Biosciences Corp., formerly known as KeyLeaf Life Sciences from Canopy Growth Corp. Bioriginal will now gain access to the POS state-of-the-art oil processing, concentration, and molecular distillation facility and become its largest customer and vendor. In addition, POS will provide research and development services to Bioriginal through its six pilot plant processing areas and eleven laboratories.
