The team at Peggy's Natural Foods shared news that Peggy Ranger, "store founder, fearless leader, and friend to the community," passed away on January 27, 2024. An announcement on the store's website read: "In her absence, our team vows to keeping her legacy of Peggy's Natural Foods alive and honor her tireless pursuit of health."

Ranger, a former special needs teacher, opened her store in 1982. Her hope was to spread the natural foods movement to her local community, and the outpouring of love on the store's social media channels is testament to the impact she had. One poster shared, "Her store was my first introduction to healthier food choices that changed me forever. So sad to hear this. Prayers for the family and may her legacy continue."

Another wrote, "You have positively influenced so many people and helped bring better health and choices to all! You were a true maverick, influencer and leader and will be missed!"

WholeFoods Magazine Publisher and VP of Media Heather Wainer also paid tribute. "Every time I saw Peggy she had a smile on her face. It was obvious she loved what she did and this industry, and we are thankful to her for that she has done. She will be missed by all."

Memorial services will be announced—follow Peggy's Natural Foods for updates.
