A newFact.MR studyfound that global sales in the insoluble fiber market surpassed 650 thousand metric tons, according to a press release. The study projected that the insoluble fiber market would reach 5.5% CAGR in terms of volume during 2017-2027.

Gains were led by growing consumer awareness, according to Fact.MR, with the study showing the insoluble fiber market benefited from a growing body of research linking regular intake to lower risk of irritable bowel syndrome.

Food and beverage companies are offering new products or adding insoluble fiber to existing products in order to satisfy consumer demand. The release also noted that powdered cellulose is being used as a fiber supplement, thickener, calorie reducer and emulsifier, and that it is in demand for anti-caking applications.
