Jim C. Hyde, vice-president and general manager of Human Nutrition and Pharma at Balchem Corporation, New Hampton, NY, has been elected chairman of the Board of Directors for theCouncil for Responsible Nutrition (CRN). CRN is the leading trade association for the dietary supplement and functional food industry, representing more than 150 companies. Hyde has served on the CRN’s Executive Committee for the last five years. Jim C. Hyde will hold the chairman position through 2018. With his election, Hyde brings 20 years of experience in the dietary supplement industry to CRN. Hyde served as vice president and general counsel for Albion Minerals before being appointed CEO from 2001 to 2016. Albion Minerals is the leading manufacturer of specialty minerals for human and plant nutrition industries. When Balchem acquired Albion Minerals in 2016, Hyde assumed his current position as vice president and general manager of Human Nutrition and Pharma at Balchem, which provides premium ingredients and technology systems for humans, animals and plants, and other industries.

Dr. Michael Murrayhas joinedEnzymedica, Inc., Venice, FL, as chief science officer. Dr. Murray is the author of over 30 books featuring natural approaches to health and was recently named “The Voice of Natural Medicine” by Nutrition Business Journal. Dr. Murray’s experience will be critical in product research and development for Enzymedica. In addition, Dr. Murray will be working closely with Roskamp Institute, Sarasota, FL to research brain health, the human microbiome, and digestion. Together, the two companies have the resources to provide innovative, science-based natural products furthering their contribution to digestive health.

In Memoriam

Ladd Seaberg, former board chairman, president, and CEO ofMCP Ingredients, Inc., Atchison, KS, passed away in January following a long illness at the age of 70. Seaberg worked with MGP throughout his entire professional career, rising from distillery production manager to vice president and eventually president of the company in 1980. MCP is now a leading supplier of premium distilled spirits as well as specialty wheat proteins and starches.

Seaberg led numerous progressive developments in the company, including several major expansion projects, facility and technological upgrades, product diversifications, and internal restricting. He was recognized for his leadership in business, industry, and local community affairs.

Seaberg is survived by his wife, Karen Seaberg, who currently serves as MGP board chair, and their children and grandchildren.
