Clackamas, OREarth Mama Organicsannounced in a press release that all six of their mineral sunscreens have received a one in the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) 13thannualGuide to Sunscreens, the best rating possible. The sunscreen guide rates the safety and efficacy of SPF products.

All of Earth Mama Organics’ Mineral Sunscreens are non-toxic and third-party certified to the NSF/ANSI 305 Organic Personal Care Standard, according to the release. They are made without the chemicals and additives the EWG considers concerning, such as oxybenzone or octinoxate, artificial fragrance, nano particles, or parabens.

Instead, the release says, the sunscreen is made with non-nano zinc and organic ingredients purposely sourced to either boost the SPF value, its moisturizing ability, or its gentle effect on sensitive screen. The sunscreens are made with organic red raspberry seed oil, which has the highest naturally-occurring SPF value available from a plant source.

Melinda Olson, founder and CEO of Earth Mama, said in the release: “We believe chemicals that are harmful to the oceans or the environment are also harmful to children. So we focused on creating a baby-safe mineral sunscreen—and by proxy, it’s safe for reefs, fish, and the ocean, too. We appreciate EWG’s outstanding and exhaustive work to educate the public about the harmful, toxic ingredients in personal care products. Not only do we avoid those ingredients, we take it to the next level with third party verification of all organic claims.”
