Asheville, NC—Earth Fare announced that Dr. Angela Hind is joining the company as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Hind will work across all departments to enact and oversee a corporate health and wellness strategy that informs new product selection and merchandising, according toa press release.

“Our country has an unprecedented epidemic of chronic illness from the food we eat," Dr. Hind said in the release. "Grocery stores have enormous power and responsibility to step up and be part of the solution by providing healthy food to everyone. That is Earth Fare’s mission.”

Dr. Hind practiced Internal Medicine for nearly 20 years before seeking additional training in molecular toxicology and Functional Medicine as a way to create an integrative approach to prevent and treat disease through diet. The goals of Dr. Hind’s role include, according to the press release, creating a customer Wellness Program, strengthening employees’ understanding of health and wellness, and developing meaningful employee benefits that empower employees to eat well and stay well.

Earth Fare president and CEO Frank Scorpiniti said in the release, “Dr. Hind has made it her life’s work to help Americans improve their health through their food choices. Dr. Hind has worked with Earth Fare in the past, according to the release, to develop programs including theClean Pantry Makeover, and contributing to in-store magazineThe Clean Plate.
