We’re asking customers to share what they love about their local natural products store. This month, the spotlight shines on one shopper’s experience at Sunrise Health Foods, in Country Club Hills, IL.

For over 20 years, Ms. Ross has been purchasing natural products. Regularly patronizing Sunrise Health Food’s Country Club Hills location, her favorite items are quality supplements, teas, and healthy snacks. What keeps her coming back to Sunrise? The customer service.

The staff at Sunrise is professional and knowledgeable, Ross says. She often relies on staffers Sharon and Sheila, who help her navigate through her healthy lifestyle goals. “I’ve been into health and fitness since my 20s,” Ross shares. “I research a lot and product quality is important to me. I don’t buy supplements from grocery stores, Target or Walmart. Sunrise is the best place to buy supplements because they offer quality products and customer service.” Her basket is usually filled with healthy omegas, probiotics, multi and prenatal vitamins, and bone and strength supplements from brands like New Chapter, Nordic Naturals, and Florajen.

She doesn’t follow a specific diet, but rather focuses on whole foods. “I measure my food by eye and I’m in a new phase of life where my body doesn’t process or digest things the same as it used to...I work with a nutritionist to help my colon cooperate with me and help me continue so I can live my best life.”

Education has been a cornerstone of Sunrise’s business model, says Dan Chapman, owner of Sunrise Health Foods, which operates multiple locations in the Chicago area, and is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. “Our focus has been the same since day one, we are a source in our community for healthy food and honest answers.” Education, he adds, is more important now than ever with the influx of information available online. “People don’t know what to trust or believe. We are a source of honest answers.”

Celebrating its 60-year milestone, the store plans to continue with its original mission. “Our goal is to serve each customer one at a time as they walk in the door,” says Chapman. “That’s who we’ve been for 60 years and we have no intention of changing that.”
