Harrison, NY—Nitrosigine—a patented complex of bonded arginine silicate—has been shown in a new study to have cognitive benefits as well as its previously demonstrated sports nutrition benefits.

The double-blind, crossover, placebo-controlled study, published in Nutrients, observed 16 participants between the ages of 18 and 28 years old during two separate three-hour trials. The participants sat through three cognitive tests, with results recorded both before and after consuming 1.5g of Nitrosigine + 8g dextrose or a placebo in the form of 8g dextrose. 7 days later, a second trial took place.

The findings: Immediate memory performance in the Nitrosigine group significantly improved compared to the placebo group between trials, with an increase of 27%; delayed memory scores also improved.

“The results of this study further aligned with previous findings that show how administering Nitrosigine can improve mental focus, memory, and acuity due to an increase in NO levels,” said Danielle Greenberg, Ph.D. FACN, Vice President, Scientific Affairs, Nutrition21, in a press release on the topic. “Therefore, consuming products made with Nitrosigine can help those looking to get in the zone and maximize their performance during a workout, while taking a test, or when performing other tasks of a similar nature.”
