Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—In mid-May, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) organized a two-day conference, held here, all about red palm oil-derived tocotrienols and carotenoids.

With sponsorship from Carotech Inc./Hovid, the main theme of the event was “Science Streamed Towards Disease Prevention,” and other sessions on palm carotenoids covered “New Challenges and Opportunities.”

Such presentations included talks from Chandan Sen, Ph.D. of Ohio States University Medical Center about the benefits of palm tocotrienol against strokes; KH Yuen, Ph.D. of University Science Malaysia, about the neuroprotection that tocotrienols provide; Enrico Magosso, Ph.D., Universiti Sains Malaysia, liver health and tocotrienols; Paul W. Sylvester of the University of Louisiana at Monroe on breast cancer research; and more. Additional topics and recordings can be seen here: www.mpoc.org.my.

“This is a great acknowledgement from MPOC and the board members. We are proud that our joint-research with both Prof. Dr. Sen and Prof. Dr. Yuen, presented the latest science and clinical results on Tocomin SupraBio at the conference as plenary lectures,” said W.H. Leong, vice president of Carotech Inc.
