Laurie Demeritt is now the president and COO of The Hartman Group, Inc. Harvey Hartman, founder of The Hartman Group, will continue as chairman.

The Global Organization of EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED) of Salt Lake City, UT has a new board of directors for the 2012–2013 fiscal year, chaired by Leslie van der Meulen of Aurora Algae and vice-chaired by Gertjan de Koning of DSM. The secretary and treasurer is Gerard Bannenberg of Solutex. Kennesaw, GA-based Deerland Enzymes has made several changes to its staff. Gary Winfield is now product manager; Blake Hall is a product development formulator; Jeremy Sciranko was promoted to purchasing manager; and Shakira Phillips was promoted to materials manager.

Sunsweet Growers Inc. of Yuba City, CA promoted Jeff McLemore to vice president of North American Marketing.

In Memoriam
Rajinder K. Bammi, Ph.D.
, friend and mentor to Sabinsa Corporation of East Windsor, NJ, passed away in December. Sabinsa credits Bammi with being “one of the primary people responsible for Sabinsa’s portfolio of health-enhancing ingredients.”

Bammi played many roles at Sabinsa and Sami Labs: president of Sabinsa R&D (1997–1999), director and president of Sami Labs (1999–2007) and chairman (2007–2012).

Stated company founder Muhammed Majeed, Ph.D., “[Dr. Bammi] made innumerable contributions in the growth of the company and was an integral part of the R&D efforts upon which our success is based. We will all miss him enormously.”
