Natracare of Greeley, CO received the 2012 Responsible Packaging award for its Natural Maxi Pads as part of the Responsible Packaging Project. Also, Susie Hewson, founder/owner, and her son cycled 500 miles (from London to Edinburgh) in six days to raise funds for Friends of the Earth.

Members of the Washington, D.C.-based Natural Products Association (NPA) can now purchase insurance through Kapatoes Insurance Solutions. Options include property and liability insurance, workers’ compensation, automobile and umbrella insurance. Members can get coverage for private label products. More info is posted on www.NPAinfo.org/Kapatoes. In other news, NPA announced it has experienced “major growth in natural products retail membership” with the joining of 75 more retailers.

The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. will expand its international corporate headquarters in Melville, NY. New office space was leased in Lake Success, NY, where it will “relocate its existing 250 Long Island-based employees and create over 100 new jobs over the next 10 years.”

Arlington Heights, IL-based Carlson Laboratories received awards from the International Taste & Quality Institute for eight fish oil products: Carlson & Carlson for Kids Norwegian Cod Liver Oil (lemon flavor), Super D Omega-3 Liquid (lemon flavor), and Carlson & Carlson for Kids The Very Finest Fish Oil (both lemon & orange flavors). MedOmega (lemon-lime flavor) received two golden stars.
