Grain Millers, Inc. added two new members to its flax team: Linda and Glenn Pizzey, previously of Pizzey’s Milling.

Oregon Cherry Growers of Salem, OR made several additions to its team with Julie Poduch, (vice president of marketing), Christian Fauser (national sales manager of foodservice) and Sue Root (field services manager).

Amy Connelly joined Nutraceuticals International Group of Paramus, NJ, taking charge of sales in the New York territory.

Jeffrey Knowles joined Life Extension of Fort Lauderdale, FL as northwest regional sales manager covering Washington and Oregon.

Novel Ingredient Services of West Caldwell, NJ hired three new executives: Frank J. Kimmerling as chief financial officer, David I. Chipkin as vice president of operations, and Eugene Lepelletier as quality assurance manager.

Endangered Species Chocolate of Indianapolis, IN announced that Stephanie Wroblewski was promoted to Midwest sales manager and Whitney Bembenick was hired as research and development manager.

Nutrition 21, LLC, of Purchase, NY, announced that Todd Spear joined the company as national director of key accounts.

In Memoriam
Bodybuilder and fitness legend Joe Weider passed away at the age of 93 due to heart failure. Weider helped put the sport of bodybuilding on the map, and was influential in shaping the career of Arnold Schwarzenegger as a weight lifter. He founded several major bodybuilding events and won the Mr. Olympia title seven times. He was a founder of the Weider brand of nutritional products.

At the end of March, the nutrition industry lost one of its pioneers: Connie Skolnick. Skolnick had three sons, including the late Rand Skolnick (former president and CEO of Solgar Vitamin and Herb). Mrs. Skolnick and her husband Allen founded Solgar and taught their son every aspect of the family business.
