The Specialty Food Association (SFA), awarded five Lifetime Achievement Awards at their Annual Summer Fancy Food Show and inducted 25 new members into their Hall of Fame. Those awarded the Lifetime Achievement Awards included Harold and Lorie Alexander of Koppers Chocolate, Ted Koryn of Liberty Foods, Paul Saginaw and Ari Weinzweig of Zingerman’s Community of Businesses, Jerry Santucci of Santucci Associated Inc. and Winston Stona of Busha Browne’s. Among the new inductees to SFA’s Hall of Fame, notable among them were Fred Meyer of Fred Meyer Stores/Kroger and Scott Jensen of Rhythm Superfoods.

In MemoriamRancho Palos Verdes, CA— Don McFarland, 83, passed away on May 9, 2017. Don grew up in Los Angeles, CA and attended the University of Southern California where he played left end for the Trojans. He married his high school sweetheart, Judy Lindberg, and after graduation went to work for her parents, Gladys and Walter Lindberg. They owned their own health food store in Los Angeles – Lindberg Nutrition. Don worked his way up until he became president of the store.

Don then started up Nutrition Express in 1983 which focused on the mail-order aspect of the natural supplement industry. He remained working for Lindberg Nutrition for over 60 years until a few months before his passing, and enjoyed staying involved with the business and his family members. He was married to Judy for 61 years, had four children, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Loved by many, Don had a significant impact on people’s lives. Our sincerest condolences go out to Don’s friends and family.
