Capsugel of Greenwood, SC, announced that its Vcaps Plus and Plantcaps vegetarian capsules received verification from the Non-GMO Project. Capsugel is the first capsule manufacturer to have this distinction.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry gave Sami Labs Limited, the manufacturing and R&D arm of East Windsor, NJ-based Sabinsa Corporation, the 2013 Product Innovator of the Year award for its OLEPENT triterpene-pentapeptide complex. Sabinsa and Sami Labs founder and managing director, Muhammed Majeed, Ph.D., received the award at the INDIA CHEM Gujarat 2013 conference.

Kyowa Hakko U.S.A., Inc. of New York, NY, announced its L-Ornithine is now self-affirmed GRAS.

Parry of Eustis, FL, and LycoRed of Orange, NJ, reached a settlement in a civil lawsuit alleging patent infringement of tomato lycopene products and their manufacturing processes. Parry will continue offering lycopene products, but has acknowledged the validity of and agrees not to challenge
LycoRed’s asserted patents.

P.L. Thomas of Morristown, NJ, changed its name to PLT Health Solutions.
