A study on mice published in Frontiers in Nutrigenomics showed that omega-3s delivered in phospholipid form (in krill oil) benefited gene regulation in the liver better than omegas delivered in triglyceride form (in fish oil).eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). “Krill oil downregulated the activity of pathways involved in hepatic glucose production as well as lipid and cholesterol synthesis. The data also suggested that krill oil-supplementation increases the activity of the mitochondrial respiratory chain,” according to Aker BioMarine ASA of Oslo, Norway. The lead author was affiliated with Aker.

In other news, Aker BioMarine and Schiff Nutrition expanded their supply agreement through June 2016 for Aker’s krill oil.
