Los Angeles, CA-based Axiom Foods announced that its Oryzatein brown rice protein is now recognized GRAS by FDA.

Arjuna Natural Extracts Ltd of Bengaluru, India, received a U.S. patent for the use of BCM-95 Curcumin as a potential treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

LactoSpore Bacillus coagulans from Sabinsa Corporation of East Windsor, NJ, was included in the launch of Massey Medicinals Candida Freedom Soap and Candida Freedom Bath Salts.

Helios CORP of Santa Fe, NM, says a new clinical trial is underway that will test its EstroG-100 in a side-by-side comparison with black cohosh. Said Michael Jeffers, president of the company, “EstroG-100 is new to the U.S. market, so we’re still educating consumers that there’s actually an effective and safe botanical treatment for menopause symptoms. We feel the best way to demonstrate that there is a better and safer choice than Black Cohosh is to launch a side-by-side study with EstroG-100.”

Kyowa Hakko of New York, NY, received a patent for a combination of l-citrulline and l-arginine to rapidly and effectively increase blood l-arginine levels. This amino acid contributes to nitric oxide production.

Stratum Nutrition of St. Charles, MO, announced its plans to raise awareness about the benefits of probiotics and to sponsor the documentary MicroWarriors: Special Edition. The film includes a new segment on “discovery and development of BLIS probiotics and advances in understanding their ‘oral health’ benefits over the last 30 years.”
