The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has given a patent to TSI Health Sciences, Inc. of Missoula, MT for its Peak ATP ingredient. The patent claims include increasing muscle strength and mass through oral ATP supplementation, says TSI.

Kearney, NJ-based Proprietary Nutritionals, Inc. (PNI) released some new human clinical data on its Cran-Max cranberry concentrate. According to PNI, people with spinal cord injuries reported fewer urinary tract infections over a year while taking the cranberry concentrate than with a placebo.

Sabinsa of Piscataway, NJ received the 2009 Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award in the nutraceuticals category for its GarCitrin patent entitled “Bioavailable Composition of Natural and Synthetic HCA.” This ingredient combines hydroxycitric acid (HCA) and garcinol (isolated from Garcinia cambogia and G. indica).

Cyanotech Corporation of Kailua Kona, HI has discovered that its Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica is a good source of vitamin K2 (3 g per serving or 19% of the daily recommended value).

Kyowa Hakko USA of New York, NY sponsored a glutathione workshop called, “Absorption of Oral Glutathione and Implications for Human Health,” at the 17th Annual World Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) in Las Vegas, NV in December. The workshop featured presentations on glutathione research and addressed how the nutrient can be used in clinical practice.
