Allendale, NJ-based Lonza announced that its trademarked larch arabinogalactan ingredient (ResistAid) is part of the Ultimate Flora Advanced Immunity formula from ReNew Life.  This dietary supplement, says the company, makes use of the ingredient’s immune-supporting and antioxidant properties.


Verdure Sciences, Inc. of Noblesville, IN, now has a patent for its pomegranate extract (Pomella). The patent covers various uses for pomegranate ellagitannin-based products.

Plantic Technologies Ltd.’s biopolymer rigid films will be distributed under the Pentafood Biofilm name in partnership with the Klöckner Pentaplast Group of Gordonsville, VA. Films are renewable, biodegradable, compostable and water dispersible.


DSM will expand its Parsippany, NJ-based North American headquarters. The site will house a Nutrition Innovation Center that will combine the expertise of its nutritional products and food specialties divisions. The center is slated to be open in 2011, complete with  sensory services and pilot facilities.

NutraCea’s cereal ingredients business and certain related equipment will be purchased by Kerry, Inc. for $3.9 million plus the cost of NutraCea’s inventory. NutraCea’s Phoenix plant and Dillon, MT facility are not included in the transaction.
