New Brunswick, NJ—New research published in Andrologia suggests that a branded shilajit (PrimaVie from Natreon, published here) increased free and total testosterone levels in healthy men.

For three months, 75 individuals (ages 45–55) took a placebo or the herb (250 mg) twice daily. The men completed questionnaires about libido/emotions/energy and had blood work taken. After the 90 days, the researchers found total testosterone levels rose 20% and free testosterone levels increased 19%. The researchers stated, “Testosterone synthesis and secretion was supported by the maintenance levels of two gonadotropic hormones LH and FSH as well as elevation of testosterone precursor DHEAs.”
