Washington, D.C.—Last month, WholeFoods reported on proposed legislation sponsored by Arizona Senator John McCain (R-AZ) that would redefine dietary supplements and place new burdens on the dietary supplement industry. In the weeks that followed, several industry companies and associations responded to the Dietary Supplement Safety Act (DSSA, S3.002) in full force.

The vitamin D formula (150 count) offers 1,000 IU of vitamin D (120 count) and the calcium gummy (60 count) contains 500 mg of calcium plus 1,000 IU of vitamin D.

American Health has launched a “Contemporary Packaging Initiative” for its existing flagship categories and will be debuted on its Chewable Acerola supplement bottles. The labels feature new graphics and will create an easily identifiable look across the supplement line.

New from Carlson Laboratories are Professional Strength, Elite Omega-3 Gems. This lemon-flavored formula offers 800 mg of omega-3s (400 mg of EPA, 300 mg of DHA) in just one soft gel. The fish oil is sourced from deep, cold ocean water fish. The benefit of this formula, according to the company, is that consumers can take fewer capsules to get the same dosage as other formulas.

Vitalah introduces a new flavor, Sparkling Blackberry Pomegranate, and a Variety Pack to its Oxylent supplements. When mixed with water, the supplement offers enzymes, electrolytes, amino acids, vitamins and minerals in three flavors. By adding organic sugar and stevia to the mix, Vitalah users can expect an improved flavor, says Oxylent.
