Santa Fe, MN–New data published in Phytotherapy Research indicates that an herbal combination ingredient benefits women in all phases of menopause.

The combination of Cynanchum wilfordii, Phlomis umbrosa and Angelica gigas (EstroG-100 from Helios Corp.) was tested in 31 women over the course of three months; 33 other women received a placebo. Researchers from Shady Canyon Medical Group in Irvine, CA and Herbal Hormone Research Institute in Seoul, Korea evaluated the women for 11 menopause-related symptoms (like insomnia, fatigue, nervousness and others) using the Kupperman menopause index (KMI). Also tested was vaginal dryness.

Overall, the supplemented group had significantly reduced KMI scores compared with the placebo group. Also, the group taking the extract saw more improvement in vaginal dryness. These effects were found without any weight gain or other side effects.
